This set of cards encourages students to use a specific focus during small group discussions.  Each card includes a description of the role, as well as a conversational example.

Roles Included: Devil's Advocate, Fence-Sitter, Why-Person, Peace-Maker, Me-Person

Socratic seminars allow students to explore an inquiry question through intellectual discussion.  We've added a twist to give students some structure for the first few times: a graphic organizer to help them prepare and organize ideas.
